Amazing Animals!

First, let's talk about roaches. Once I mention the word 'roaches', I am sure things like cockroaches will come to your mind, but actually, there are a lot more about them! The world's largest roaches live in South America. They are six inches long and have a wingspan of about one foot. Roaches run up to three miles an hour, which is rather fast for small creatures. When female roaches mate once, they might be pregnant forever. Roaches can live without food for one month and one week without a head! Surprising, right? They only die when they have no mouth and die of thirst.
Now, let's talk about parrots. The African Grey Parrot is the best talker in the world. They can say 1000 words! Other parrots can say up to 500 words.
Hedgehogs might seem like small animals to you, but guess what, they eat small birds, lizards, frogs, snakes, mice and even carrion! Their normal heartbeat is 190 times a minute but when they hibernate in winter, the rate is only 20 times a minute!
A chameleon's eyes move independently, they can see two different directions at the same time! They can also camouflage themselves so well that you may not even know that they are there!
An eagle's eyeballs are about 35mm wide while a human's eyeballs are only 24mm wide. That means they have really huge eyes. They can see about 2 to 3.6 times better than humans!
A spider not only has 8 legs, it also has eight eyes!
So, now we know, some animals are really amazing!

农历新年
今年的新年我过得很快乐。除夕的那晚，我听父母亲说小孩子们守夜父母就会长寿。所以，我和弟弟很晚了还在看电视，不肯睡觉。我们跟着电视综艺节目倒数到农历新年，真好玩！过后，我们一边看电视节目，一边吃我最喜欢的黄梨酥。我们有说有笑，多么开心阿!
初一那天，我们穿着新衣到外婆家去。我们一起玩游戏，谈天说地。吃了一顿饭后，我们才依依不舍地踏上归途，回家去。我们的假期过得那么快，转眼间，我们又要回学校上课了。这次，我虽然没有拿到那么多红包，但我觉得今年的新年我过得最高兴了。

唉！
昨天，我们的华文老师吩咐我们写周记。但是，我就是不喜欢写周记。要写周记的时候，我的脑海里总是空空的，不知该写什么才好。我应该谈谈我的性格，还是讲一讲我的好朋友们呢？哎，我真的不知道我该怎么写下去啊！
还是谈一谈我自己好吧！我今年十二岁，在恒力小学读六年级。我不是很高，所以我希望我会长高一点。我很喜欢读书，有空时，我会拿起一本书，不停地读。我有一个可爱的弟弟，他是家里的开心果。我很喜欢他！
我今年要从恒力小学毕业了。我舍不得离开我的好朋友们呢！她们对我这么好，到了中学，会是一个新环境，新同学，我有一点担心我会交不起朋友。但是，我相信我会交许多朋友，像小学一样，很开心！

All about me!
I was born on 24 July 1996 in Mount Alvernia Hospital.
I could walk and talk in 1997.
In 1998, I was enrolled to Little Raindrops Montessori Pre-school, where I spent my first 5 years of education. I will never forget my time in pre-school. My nose always bled and I would be forced to sit in a little chair at the corner and hold my nose until it stopped bleeding. I also did not like my principal as she was really fierce.
In the year 2000, I learnt to swim. I was not a really good swimmer and I took a long time to swim properly. I also learnt ballet but I stopped learning after a few years as I did not really like it. I also lernt to play the keyboard but I did not like it. I disliked practising the keyboard at home and I always cried whenever I was asked to play the keyboard. However, that was the old times; now, I love playing the piano!
In 2002, I finally managed to achieve the Bronze Award in the National Survival Swimming Award.
In 2003, I was a primary 1 kid in Henry Park Primary School, where I would spend my next six years of education. I achieved the Silver Award in the National Survival Swimming Award. For academic, I achieved 1st in class and Best in Mathematics, which made my parents really proud of me.
In 2004, I achieved 2nd in class during the year end examinations. My parents brought me to Gold Coast and Brisbane in Australia. I had a really enjoyable time there. I guess that is the best holiday I have ever had so far.
In 2005, I achieved the Gold Award in the National Survival Swimming Award. I manged to get 1st in standard in terms of academic. I was so happy as I never thought that I could make it. I went to Shaghai, China at the end of the year. I did not enjoy this holiday as much.
In 2006, I took up Tae-kwondo and achieved a gold award at the Tae-kwondo Annual Championships. I achieved 1st in standard and Best in mathematics again. I also achieved 1st in a Chinese Story Writing Competition. I went to Japan at the end of the year. In Tokyo, we went to disneyland and I found out that although the rides were not very exciting and scary, I still had loads of fun there.
In 2007, I went for my Grade 2 Piano Practical Exam. I was rather pleased when I found out that I had passed with Merit. I also achieved Merit in the 8th schools Video Awards which I took part in 2006. I received a bronze certificate from the National Mathematical Olympiad of Singapore. I represented the school in the Netball West zone Championships and we, together as a team, grabbed hold of the Gold medal. As such, I received the Colours Award in recognition of excelling in my CCA. As I did very well for my year-end exam, my parents brought me to Korea for a holiday. I enjoyed skiing the most as it was very fun. I loved skiing down the slope and falling in the snow. My brother and I made snowballs and we threw them at each other. It was so fun!
This year, 2008, I will be taking a very important examination at the end of the year which would determine where I would spend my next four or six years in. I will also be taking my Grade 5 Theory Piano Exam in March.
